LRG runs a monthly landscape research community group on the third Thursday of the month for researchers and practitioners in the Americas time zones

Research can sometimes feel isolating, and the Covid restrictions made that even more apparent. Landscape studies, with its interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches, can add another layer of challenge, as our methods don’t always sit neatly within a single academic department.

To help counter this, we host several landscape research community groups aimed at LRG Members that meet monthly over coffee -virtually, via Zoom. These are friendly, informal gatherings where we explore all aspects of landscape research and practice.

Each session is usually led by someone in the group who shares part of their research, raises a methodological or thematic question, or simply talks through an issue they are working on—such as data collection, analysis, or framing.

We currently run three main groups:

There are several more groups in the making so please keep an eye on our social media for more details.

You don’t need to live in these regions to join, many participants cross between groups. Each has its own character and perspective, offering fresh insights into landscape research.

The groups are open to all postgraduate landscape researchers and practitioners, no matter your focus or discipline. They are a great way to:

  • Make connections that could spark new ideas or collaborations

  • Gain clarity on your research through discussion and feedback

  • Share challenges and receive support from a community of peers
