LRG Research Fund 2026: Living with slow disaster in Venice
How do we understand a landscape when its future is as important as its past? Annaclaudia Martini is using Venice to rethink landscape biography and explore how people live with gradual environmental change. Combining oral histories, walking interviews, affective mapping and other creative methods, her project asks how memory and anticipation interact in landscapes experiencing “slow disaster” – and whether those insights can help us understand other places facing similarly uncertain futures.
LRG Research Fund 2026: Envisioning Kilifi’s future through the eyes of its young people
Can interactive visualisation give young people a stronger voice in shaping their landscapes? Robert Newell and his team are exploring how digital tools can help communities in Kilifi, Kenya, imagine and engage with possible futures. Working across Kenya and Canada, the project will develop a mobile-friendly visualisation tool through which young people can explore nature-based solutions and contribute their perspectives to local planning and environmental decision-making.
