On 5th December 2024, the Landscape Research Group (LRG), in partnership with the Bartlett School of Architecture’s MA/MLA Landscape Architecture programme, hosted Landscape Futures in the Twenty-First Century: Landscape Leaders in an Intergenerational Dialogue. This hybrid event brought together an audience, both via Zoom and in central London, to engage with thought-provoking discussions led by four distinguished cross-disciplinary landscape academics – Professor Marc Antrop, Dr Margherita Cisani, Dr Amy Strecker, and Professor Tim Ingold.
Moderated by LRG Vice Chair Prof. Tim Waterman, who stood in for Chair Prof. Theano S. Terkenli, the panel addressed three critical questions:
- How do you anticipate and/or envision the future of landscape and landscape research in our era of multiple crises?
- What role could the LRG play in addressing these challenges?
- What strategies or actions do you recommend to respond to and mitigate these challenges while embracing emerging opportunities?
In tackling these questions, the panellists explored pressing global challenges such as climate change, food security, and cultural heritage, offering insights and strategies to advance landscape research and practice.
We would like to extend a huge thanks to our panel for sharing their time and wisdom, as well as to all who attended. For those who were unable to make the event or who would like to revisit the insightful conversations held, the recording is available on LEX and can be accessed by clicking the button below.
