We are excited to officially announce the launch of the Landscape Research Group’s Cairo Critical Field Study (CFS), taking place from 19th to 25th September 2025. This immersive programme offers a rare opportunity for researchers, practitioners, academics, and students to explore Cairo’s dynamic landscape through hands-on learning and field-based research.

Designed to pave the way for future partnerships, collaborations, and research outputs, this study will provide a platform for LRG members to deepen their knowledge while building meaningful connections within the global academic and research communities.

As one of the world’s oldest and most complex urban environments, Cairo presents a fascinating case study where ancient and modern landscapes converge. Participants will explore key themes, such as the Nile River’s profound influence on the city’s cultural and ecological systems, as well as the evolving colours and characteristics of Cairo’s landscape across different historical periods.

The CFS is supported both financially and administratively by the LRG, ensuring the programme runs efficiently, is affordable and offers an enriching experience to all participants. It is ideal for those looking to advance their research, foster new collaborations, and gain deeper insights into Cairo’s evolving landscape.
