The Maghreb Landscape Research Network is currently in a state of pause. We welcome expressions of interest from researchers and practitioners working across North Africa who would like to help shape its next phase. If you are interested in contributing to the network, organising activities, or acting as coordinator, please contact Sarah Lawton to discuss how you can get involved.
The Maghreb Landscape Research Network hosted a conference on 22–23 May 2023 at the Department of Architecture, Mohamed Boudiaf University of Science and Technology (USTO-MB) in Oran, Algeria. The event brought together researchers, practitioners and students from across North Africa to explore the development of a shared Landscape Convention for the Maghreb region.
The Maghreb Landscape Convention brought together researchers and practitioners from across North Africa to explore shared landscape challenges and opportunities within the region. The event created a platform for dialogue between Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria, focusing on how landscape research can support environmental resilience, cultural identity and sustainable territorial development.
Participation is open to anyone interested in landscape research in this region. You do not need to be an LRG member to take part.
LRG membership is encouraged for those wishing to connect more closely with the wider international community, funding opportunities and publications.
