The Australasian–Pacific Network connects landscape researchers and practitioners across the Asia–Pacific and Oceania region, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Southeast Asia and Pacific Island nations. The network provides a space for collaboration across Eastern Hemisphere time zones, enabling members to meet during normal working hours and develop regionally relevant research and exchange.
The network focuses on shared landscape challenges across the region, including climate change impacts on island nations, migration and mobilities, indigenous perspectives on landscape change, and the relationship between mountain and sea systems in landscape practice. It also aims to support collaboration around national priorities, heritage landscapes and emerging regional research agendas.
Activities will include informal online sessions, development of collaborative publications, support for special issues and funded research proposals, and the organisation of regional symposia where appropriate. The network also aims to grow participation across the Asia–Pacific community and strengthen connections between researchers, practitioners and institutions working in landscape-related fields.
Participation is open to anyone interested in landscape research in the Australasian–Pacific region. You do not need to be an LRG member to attend events, although membership is encouraged for those wishing to become more involved in network activities and opportunities.
To learn more or express interest in the APN, please contact the Network Lead; Dr Dr. Cathe Desiree S. Nadal. Participation in network events is open to all, including non-members.
Landscape and Visual Representation is a two-day event exploring how visual tools shape landscape understanding, design and decision-making. The symposium brings together researchers, practitioners and students to examine emerging technologies, bicultural perspectives and creative practice, with optional hands-on experiences in virtual reality, immersive environments and participatory digital modelling.
Participation is open to anyone interested in landscape research in this region. You do not need to be an LRG member to take part.
LRG membership is encouraged for those wishing to connect more closely with the wider international community, funding opportunities and publications.
