Landscape Research Group networks provide a structured but flexible way to connect with an international community of researchers, practitioners and organisations working across regions, languages and themes.
Many networks have grown from informal coffee hours, collaborative workshops and shared research interests. LRG supports these communities as they develop, helping them gain visibility, continuity and connection across a wider global network.
Networks are open to all. You do not need to be an LRG member to take part.
Current networks
LRG maintains and supports a growing set of regional and thematic networks at different stages of development.
These networks are actively supported through LRG’s platforms, communications and international reach, enabling local activity to connect into a wider research community.
Current networks include:
- Americas landscape research network
- Australasian–Pacific landscape research network
- China landscape research network
- European landscape research network
- German-speaking landscape research network
- Latin American landscape research network
- North African (Maghreb) landscape research network
- Global landscape research network (open)
Each network offers a locally relevant entry point into an international research community.
Participation in a network
LRG networks are designed to be easy to join and flexible to engage with.
Through its networks, LRG provides:

- Visibility for regional and thematic activity
- Connections to peers, collaborators and aligned organisations
- Support for online delivery and coordination
Participants can engage at different levels, from attending occasional sessions to helping shape discussions or support activity over time.
The structure is intentionally light-touch. LRG provides the framework, visibility and connections that allow participation to grow naturally.
Member benefits of network involvement
Networks are open to all. LRG membership strengthens and extends this experience.
Through network participation, LRG provides:
- Access to international conversations and events
- Opportunities to contribute to emerging research activity
- Connections across regions, disciplines and career stages
LRG membership additionally provides:
- Full access to member benefits, including journal access
- Opportunities to take on convenor and leadership roles
- Greater influence in shaping network activity and direction
- Support for developing ideas into events, collaborations or projects
- Contribution to the long-term sustainability of the network structure
Many participants begin through networks and later join LRG. Others remain engaged through network activity alone.
Setting up a new network
LRG supports the development of new regional and thematic networks, from early-stage ideas through to established activity.
This support includes:
- Promotion to LRG members and affiliated organisations
- Communication and visibility across LRG platforms

- Connections to others working in similar areas
- Support in developing activity and exploring funding opportunities
New networks often begin with a small group and develop over time through shared discussions and trial activity.

Get involved
LRG provides the structure, visibility and connections.
You can step into an existing network, contribute to an emerging one, or develop a new community over time.
Landscape research develops through connection. Networks make that connection possible.
