Landscape Research Group is delighted to welcome Robin Hüppe to its Board of Trustees following his election by members at our 2026 Annual General Meeting.
Robin is a Doctoral Fellow and Lecturer at ETH Zürich’s Institute of Landscape and Urban Studies, where his research examines Berlin’s housing landscapes at the intersection of architectural history, landscape studies and the environmental humanities. He has previously taught at the University of Houston and has published in journals including Landscape Research and the Journal of Planning History.
His academic and professional experience spans Germany, Portugal, Brazil, the United States, Canada and Switzerland. Alongside his research, Robin has worked as a landscape architect and has been involved in international research networks, symposia, public lecture series and academic and public-facing publishing. He is also involved with DocTalks, an international platform connecting doctoral students working across landscape and architectural history.
Robin was elected at LRG’s AGM on 4 September, joining five serving trustees who were re-elected by members: Laura Watt, Merham Kelleg, Jens Haendeler, Amanda Byer and Rachel Dominy.
Supporting the next generation of landscape researchers
Robin brings a particular interest in supporting students and early-career researchers and in creating opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and geographical boundaries.
In his election statement, he identified several areas where he hopes to contribute to LRG, including developing grant funding and mentorship opportunities for early-career researchers, particularly those from underrepresented geographies; contributing to the development of Landscape Exchange (LEX); and supporting collaborative events that bring together design practitioners, humanities scholars and environmental researchers.
Introducing himself to members at the AGM, Robin spoke about his doctoral research comparing mass-housing landscapes in East and West Berlin and his interest in developing collaborations through LRG.
Robin joins the Board at an important point for LRG, as we prepare for our 60th anniversary in 2027 and continue to develop our international networks, research support, membership community and digital resources.
